Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 23 June 2026 · studymateai.edu.lk

Welcome to StudyMate AI ("StudyMate AI", "we", "us", "our"), available at studymateai.edu.lk. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What we provide

StudyMate AI is an AI-assisted study platform for students in Sri Lanka. It helps you ask questions, generate revision notes and create practice ("model") papers based on study material. The service is provided as a study aid only.

2. Eligibility & student accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. If you are under 18, you should use the service with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian. We may suspend or close accounts that are shared, duplicated, or used to abuse the service.

3. Credits, payments & refunds

Use of AI features is measured in credits (1 credit = LKR 1.00). New users receive free daily credits, which reset each day and do not accumulate. You may also purchase credit packages. Purchased credits do not expire but are non-transferable and, except where required by law, are non-refundable once added to your account. Online payments are processed by third-party providers (for example, Dialog Genie); we do not store your card details.

4. Your uploaded content & intellectual property

Some areas let you upload your own material (such as lecture notes or past papers). You keep ownership of what you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process that material only to provide study assistance to you.

Files you upload to your personal/general library are stored privately to your account. We do not publish them or share them with other users.

You promise that, for anything you upload, you either created it, own it, or have the rights or permission to upload it. You must not upload material that infringes anyone's copyright or other rights — including textbooks, commercially published past papers, or other people's lecture notes — unless you own the copyright or have the copyright owner's permission. You are solely responsible for the material you upload.

📌 In plain terms: upload your own work or material you have the right to use. Please don't upload pirated books or other people's copyrighted material.

5. Material provided by StudyMate AI

Study material made available within exams by StudyMate AI is either owned by us, licensed to us, used with permission, or openly/freely licensed or in the public domain. If you believe any material on the platform infringes your rights, please tell us (see "Copyright complaints" below) and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it.

6. We act as a neutral host

We do not actively monitor or review every file users upload, and we act as a neutral host of user-uploaded content. We are not responsible for material uploaded by users and do not endorse it. We may remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion, particularly where we receive a valid complaint or believe these Terms have been breached.

7. Copyright complaints (notice & takedown)

If you believe content on StudyMate AI infringes your copyright, email info.studymateai@gmail.com with: (a) a description of the work and where it appears on the platform, (b) your contact details, (c) a statement that you believe the use is unauthorised, and (d) confirmation that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We will review valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to the material where appropriate.

8. AI-generated answers — accuracy

Answers, notes and papers are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. They are a study aid, not a substitute for your official syllabus, textbooks, teachers or examiners. Always verify important information against official sources. We do not guarantee any particular grade, exam result or outcome from using the service.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including: uploading unlawful or infringing content; attempting to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the platform; creating multiple or fake accounts to abuse free credits; sharing your account; or using the service to harm others.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudyMate AI and the StudyMate Team are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated content or from content uploaded by users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Sri Lankan law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StudyMate AI and the StudyMate Team from any claim, loss, demand or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising out of content you upload or your breach of these Terms — including any claim that your uploaded content infringes copyright or other intellectual-property rights.

12. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service. You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, including the Intellectual Property Act No. 36 of 2003, and disputes are subject to the courts of Sri Lanka.
